We bring LCD-TFT technology to the Barcelona Metro with more than 1,300 monitors across 128 stations

From SOLTEC, we have supplied 1,314 monitors for lines L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L11 of the Metro de Barcelona network. This is the project to renew the user information system, developed between 2024 and 2025, to replace the previous system based on LED screens with a new generation of monitors with LCD-TFT technology in a total of 128 stations.

The monitors, based on LCD-TFT technology, offer a sharper image, greater graphics capabilities and the possibility of using color. These features allow information to be presented in a clearer and more visual way, improving the passenger experience.

They are distributed across platforms, lobbies and connecting corridors, expanding the points where users can consult service information.

LCD-TFT technology designed for a demanding environment

For this project, we supplied single-sided monitors as well as double-sided monitors in an ultra-wide 55-inch ½ format. These are industrial-grade solutions designed to operate 24/7 and provide a long service life. They incorporate a resolution of 3,840 × 1,080 pixels and a high-brightness panel, features that are especially suitable for an intensive-use environment such as the Barcelona Metro network.

One of the main technical challenges of the project was adapting the new technology to the existing infrastructure. In this regard, one of the priorities was to maintain and make use of the mounting points already installed, avoiding the need to replace all the mounting structures and thus facilitating the transition to the new system.

A strategic project for SOLTEC

Our participation in this project represents an important milestone for our company. It reinforces our positioning as manufacturers of audiovisual solutions for large infrastructures and transport environments, and demonstrates our ability to develop and supply products adapted to large-scale installations and environments with high requirements for continuous operation, visibility and integration.

The renewal of the monitors is part of the project to update the user information system promoted by TMB and awarded to the ADMIRA-DOVER UTE, responsible for installing the devices.

Thank you to TMB and the ADMIRA-DOVER UTE for trusting our audiovisual solutions for a project of this scale!
